New Life In The Highlands

by admin - 22:16 on 15 March 2013

Spring is in the air. The snowdrops are fading as daffodil shoots grow higher in the garden. The grass is beginning to rise, primulas are in full bloom and buds are visible on The Nutella Tree's branches.

We won't get to excited just yet – more snow is forecast for the weekend, and Matchgirl, who's been desperate all winter to see some, isn't happy about it. She's scheduled to run the Inverness half marathon on Sunday as part of her training for London. Thirteen miles in snow doesn't appeal, especially as one slip could end her marathon dream, so her weekend plans are in the balance.

But spring is definitely on the way, for the first lambs have appeared in a field a few minutes' walk from The Rural Retreat. Lamb snappery is compulsory in March so I took my first quick shots today.

As they're the first, the quality control threshold was set at a modest level; I hope there'll be better ones to come. These two are fine in the meantime.
