The Cat In The Bag

by admin - 15:42 on 14 January 2013

Matchgirl's bag fetish has been communicated to The Rural Retreat's feline occupants. Or maybe, as all three moggies are female, it's a girl thing whatever the species.

The Pride, as you'll be aware by now, are spoiled for choice when it comes to balls, catnip mice, squeaky items, bits of string and assorted other playthings. But they have a new favourite – a carrier bag made of stiff paper in which Matchgirl brought home some of her recent sale bargains.

Pandora (no surprise) was the first to explore the bag's depths after it had been deliberately left on its side in the middle of the floor. Cats can be so predictable. Willow watched with interest and had a look for herself after Pandora left.

Their game is for Pandora to hide inside while Willow pounces on the bag, or any paw or tail to appear from inside. The noisy fun continues until either gets bored, which can take some time: loud rustlings of the cat in the bag can be heard long into the night.

Maia has yet to join in their game but watches closely. She now prefers her mouse-on-a-string to be pulled around the bag so she can leap on mouse and bag together for maximum aural effect. Simple pleasures.

Big Sky

Today's Snapathon shot features the sky over North Sutor and Cromarty. We've had no snow yet, although it tried hard in Dingwall today, but plenty of frost.

Expect the white-out tomorrow, when Squirrel James and I are scheduled to deliver our talks at Nairn Camera Club.
