The Struggles Of Mr Ford

by admin - 22:48 on 18 June 2012

For some time I've been driving Mr Ford with crossed fingers in the hope that my dreams of oil baronry will materialise before his occasionally erratic performance declines further and makes another trip to the garage unavoidable. No prizes for guessing which happened first.

The good news is that he's still mobile, although I don't trust him enough to travel beyond the Black Isle. The bad news is that my trusted mechanic can't see him until the end of next week. The horrendous news is likely to be the bill after he's done so.

This could turn out to be A Good Thing, for if I'm forced to cash in some of my shares to pay for Mr Ford's restoration (or replacement) that may be enough to activate Sod's Law and see the asking price of my remaining shares soar overnight. It's about time they came good.

Tree Sparrows 2

The youngster's not sharp, but too good a scene to delete.

Wildlife Update: Marten sightings are again happening after dusk, if at all. Very frustrating. My consolation is that the garden has become a sparrow nursery, although I've yet to capture a satisfactory snap. There's time yet.

Goldfinch 10

The goldfinches, who disappeared for several weeks, have returned but looking a bit on the scruffy side because of their moult. At least, I presume it's them – they seem too big to be fledglings but I may be wrong.

Tree Sparrows 1

Matchgirl Update: The Chi Running star returned from Edinburgh today, happy with what she's learned and only slightly fearful of having contracted Legionnaires Disease while she was there. Life is hard for hypochondriacs.
