No Hiding Place

by admin - 19:59 on 27 March 2012

Bess continues to make the most of the good weather, demanding that her meals be served outdoors and disappearing, much to Matchgirl's consternation, to a secret place we could only guess at – until today.

On a couple of occasions we'd searched The Rural Retreat's vast acres, and the surrounding area, but seen no sign of a relaxing moggy. Had she gone into nearby fields? Or – horror of horrors – risked one of her remaining lives to cross the road to find peace?

No. Our stay-at-home puss has established a den mere feet from the front door, beneath the twisted limbs of our huge willow tree. Shade, shelter and solitude – what more could a cat want?

In The Den

Bess, comfortable in her new nest

I attempted snappery at her new favourite place but the awkward puss abandoned her pose and walked towards me every time I pointed the Pentax at her. Despite that, I managed a couple of cat still lifes. She's a star.
