So Much To Do

by admin - 23:44 on 22 May 2011

My days away from GNoME HQ continue to involve more hard work than when I'm there.

Apart from a break to take Matchgirl to the airport, so she can begin her latest sojourn among the Shetlanders, today has involved much intensive work to bring the Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery up the required standard for lithographic reproduction.

This, to cut a long story short, involves reprocessing all the original image files because the CMYK that's good enough for digital print doesn't cut the mustard for litho. Especially when you're learning as you go along and got the CMYK wrong the first time around. Bad profiles and failed reconversion. Print buffs will understand.

But I persevered and finished my part of the job at 11.30pm. Tomorrow the baton will be handed to Andrew, and in a couple of days back to me so I can produce the final pdf for Tigger at Big Sky before Matchgirl and I leave the Highlands for a week's holiday in Yorkshire.

The rush is necessary, for the next print run will be needed very soon. One of our outlets has already requested more books, just days after receiving its allocation, and all report healthy interest in The Great Work.

This time next year we'll be millionaires.

Marten Update: No more sightings have been made but ninja martens entered the garden on at least two occasions when I was busy elsewhere. The sneaks.
