The Yawning Man

by admin - 22:50 on 22 March 2011

Last night was one of those nights where sleep is hard to come by. I blame the soaring spring temperature. Or the chocolate cookies for supper.

The silver lining was a sighting of Mystery Marten at 3am when she arrived to finish the freebies she'd spurned earlier in the evening. The down side was a day in which I failed to sparkle.

However, the day had its high points. More copies of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery have been sold and reserved – so many that we've had to abandon plans to take a stall at North Kessock Community Market on Saturday for fear we won't have enough stock to sell at The Official Launch Shindig next Wednesday.

The summit meeting tonight, convened to debate the next print run, finished inconclusively; three participants meant three different attitudes to financial risk and three different estimates of future sales. What we did agree was that Marten James will quiz Norman tomorrow and gather the extra information we need to decide our next move.

Whatever that move, it will have to be made soon – at the rate we're going the first print run will be sold out in a couple of weeks. And it's not even tourist season yet. Our published future looks promising.
