In The Shops!

by admin - 18:17 on 18 March 2011

We made it in the end – The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery is now on sale in several outlets and will soon be available in more. We sold our first three copies this morning (no, not to ourselves) – The Sunday Times bestseller list can't be far away.

We even found another outlet – Frank Nicol Garden Centre in Dingwall, in whose tea shop we celebrated after collecting the books.

The Official Launch Shindig will be held at Eilean Dubh Restaurant in Fortrose, 3pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 30 (earlier than I anticipated, so soon-to-be-wed Marten James can concentrate on nuptial preparations). We'll be pleased to see you.

Norman looked understandably nervous when we trooped into his premises this morning to examine the merchandise, but soon it was smiles all round. Even taciturn Norman was seen to raise one side of his mouth a little.

His usual gloom returned when the subject of a quote for the next print run was raised. Paper costs have soared since the first run, we were told. He'll give us a figure shortly. If Norman was a literary character he'd be Eeyore.

With luck, the Bumper Snappers will feature in next Friday's editions of the Ross-shire Journal and Inverness Courier. If we do I'll persuade them to include the tale in their online editions so everyone can share it, although having seen the picture of us they intend to use with the piece that's probably not a good idea.

I'll stay behind the camera in future.

Looking forward to my copy. I'm assuming it is a signed, first edition!

Only four first edition copies exist – they're the collectors' items! Yours is a signed second edition.
