A Moggy And A Mystery

by admin - 23:51 on 30 November 2010

My day began by clearing four inches of two-day-old snow from Mr Ford followed by a cautious drive to Inverness where I was required at GNoME HQ. What fun.

The patch of bare, leaf-covered ground exposed by Mr Ford's departure caused Bess much confusion, Matchgirl reported. The puzzled puss, who'd left The Rural Retreat unwillingly to pursue her morning business, was unable to reconcile an oblong patch of brown with the white wilderness that surrounded it, despite much investigation.

I returned, after a stimulating day's toil, with even more caution: dark, fog patches, occasionally icy roads and a temperature of -11C in places meant that much care was required by sensible motorists.

Arctic conditions didn't deter Master Marten, who arrived for supper at 11pm. After gobbling two lumps of frozen Nutella he turned to his egg, which – because I'd neglected to crack it sufficiently – he was able to carry off whole into the bushes.

He never returned, much to Matchgirl's disappointment – she's yet to see him gambol through the snow. Maybe tomorrow.
