Friend of the Stars

by admin - 20:04 on 15 November 2010

It's not often that a genuine TV star hands me a bottle of whisky, but it happened yesterday evening.

Ed Byrne, more usually seen in Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Comedy Roadshow, has been touring tiny Scottish venues with his Warming Up In The Cold show, ahead of a proper UK tour next year.

Matchgirl and I had hoped to see him at Cromarty, but the 30-seat arena sold out in seconds. However, we managed to get tickets for Drumnadrochit's Craigmonie Centre, capacity 200, where a good night was had by all.

My bonus was a raffle prize, drawn and presented by the man himself. It was only Bell's, but I've never been one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

We saw our first sub-zero temperatures this autumn on the way home, so the frost that iced the carpet of leaves on the lawn this morning was no surprise. It was also no deterrent to pine martens, for nuts and Nutella disappeared overnight. The boy is back.

Bess was less happy about the cold. Some cats don't like to walk on frosty ground. She could have a long winter ahead of her.
