The Horror Beneath The Table

by admin - 20:08 on 22 October 2010

What's worse than finding an ex-mouse beneath the dining table? Matchgirl found out this morning.

It's not, as you might think, finding half an ex-mouse – a not uncommon occurrence in The Rural Retreat.

No, what's worse is discovering a lightly savaged rodent that's still breathing but clearly not long for this world.

Kind-hearted Matchgirl made Bess's latest victim comfortable, in hope of a miraculous recovery, but it was not to be. So Master Marten got extra protein with tonight's supper. It's an ill wind...

Earlier, the first draft of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery was examined in detail by its creators and declared mostly good. A few snaps were rejected, a few moved around, and an archive search instigated for a few vital extra ones.

The only major thing still to be decided is which snap will grace the cover and how it will be presented.

In the meantime, local printers will be given the opportunity to produce our masterwork at a cheaper rate then efficient-but-expensive Blurb. I'll begin to chase quotes on Monday.

Pine Marten Update: But nothing to do with Master Marten. Anyone who wishes to see some real pine marten snaps should take a look at ace wildlife photographer Terry Whittaker's blog. Absolutely fantastic. And the snaps on show are just a small selection of the collection he gathered earlier this year. The show off.
