The Parting of the Ways

by admin - 22:48 on 09 August 2010

Today was a sad day for Kawasaki San – Kenny, the man with the spanner who played a considerable part in helping him break the 100,000-mile barrier, is in his last week with RM Motors.

Later this month he begins a new life on Shetland, where competent motorcycle mechanics are hard to find. We'll miss him.

Henceforth, RM Motors will concentrate on four-wheeled transport, which means I'll have to find somewhere new where the GTR's aches and pains can be treated. Almost inevitably, this will be in Inverness. What a nuisance.

I said goodbye to Kenny late this afternoon when Matchgirl and I collected Mr Ford – now fully MOT'd and much quieter – from the garage.

In our absence an unexpected visitor paid a call, evidence of his presence a fresh pile of pine marten poo. Perhaps Master Marten's often been around in the afternoon but not left a calling card. Or perhaps this is another individual. Who can tell?

So there's still a chance of more sightings this year, unless then local marten population is just out to taunt me, for no-one returned in daylight. The teases.

One of my favourite snaps from this year
