Pheasants and Sparrows

by admin - 23:24 on 01 June 2010

There were no pine marten sightings whatsoever tonight, despite much loitering beside the living room window. The Nutella remained untouched when Matchgirl and I retired to bed.

Someone we did see was Mr Pheasant, this time with two of his wives to accompany him although only one was captured with him on camera. Any day now we hope to see a clutch of pheasant chicks follow them across the garden.

It's to be hoped that parental protective instincts are strong, for Bess and Romeo are sure to show huge interest in anything small and scurrying. Spider has still to venture more than a few steps beyond The Rural Retreat's front door so emerging life is safe from her attentions.

Another tree sparrow portrait has been added to my collection, this one a definite contender for a place in the possible ARPS panel. It's success or otherwise will be judged when I turn pixels into print.

Too many snaps that look fine on Flickr don't make the grade when turned into something more substantial. Ink and paper can be very unforgiving.
