The Cat's Back on the Mat

by admin - 20:09 on 21 April 2010

Bess returned to The Rural Retreat today. This may have been a relief for the staff of Dr Death's surgery, for she'd loudly demanded her release for a some time before Matchgirl picked her up in Agent Cooper for the ride back home.

Back at the cottage, she pointedly ignored her chauffeur in favour of examining the garden to ascertain whether changes had been made in her absence or intruders had been on the prowl.

Her energy levels didn't remain high for long; soon she was back on her mat at the top of the stairs, snoozing and with little interest in the contents of her dish. Chewing is a bit of an effort at the moment, even when all she's offered is soft food.

The increasingly toothless moggy lost not just the damaged canine, but the tooth beside it. And canines have very deep roots, we learned, necessitating a cut to get it out and stitches afterwards.

Bess has a supply of painkillers, the first of which Matchgirl will attempt to administer tomorrow. She's not optimistic.

Curiosity

Literary Update: My first royalties statement for sales of Maggie arrived today. It made depressing reading, although unsurprising when my lack of promotional activity is taken into account. Blame the Pentax.

If you wish to purchase a copy – I'll even sign it for you – the link to its Amazon page is here. Read Chapter One, for free, on this very site. An absolute bargain at only £7.99. How can you resist?

Poor Bess. I can't believe she's been in the wars again. At least she's ok and it's been an opportunity to see more of your fabulous photos of her.
