The Time Of Their Lives

by Russell Turner - 16:44 on 05 May 2017

Thursday seems an odd day for a wedding, and the reception that follows it, so we didn’t know what to expect when City Limits, with stand-in drummer Duncan (because Sam was working), turned up at the Waterside Hotel in Inverness last night.

It turned out to be one of the best wedding gigs we’ve played: a decent room with good acoustics, no problem getting gear in and out, and a small-but-big-enough crowd which was fulsome in its praise at the end of the night. Several business cards were handed out, including one to the hotel management which wanted to add us to its list of recommended acts.

And we were finished by 10.30 and away not long after eleven, which was a huge bonus.

What with pipers and a buffet taking up time we played less than usual, leaving out some of our regular tunes, but sneaked back in I’ve Had The Time Of My Life as an encore. This turned out to be the highlight of the night when the happy couple danced it solo, surrounded by cheering friends and family. They didn’t attempt the lift though. Shame.
