Difficult Decisions

by Russell Turner - 20:47 on 27 January 2017

My illustrated talk last night to Inverness 41 Club was well received, although only one book was sold afterwards. Maybe they’d spent all their money on the rather good food at the Craigmonie Hotel. The bonus was an invitation to speak at Kiltarlity Camera Club on a date to be arranged.

Or maybe the membership was too well stricken in years to appreciate quality publications, unlike the appreciative child posted on Facebook by the sister of Squirrel James (remember him?). It’s good to see someone so engrossed in one of my books.

On a related matter, A2 and A3 posters will soon be available of a watercolour of Rosehaugh House, as featured in the eponymous book. Watch this space.

I’m happy to report that Matchgirl’s backlog of report-writing has been overcome, and her tax return sneaked in ahead of the deadline. Now all she has to worry about is what to wear for tomorrow night’s Strictly spectacular, and whether she’ll be able to persuade conservative Cathy to don something equally bespangled.

My beloved (that’s Matchgirl, not Cathy) may be acquiring a taste for a ritzy night out, for she’s expressed interest in Neil Diamond’s visit to Glasgow on his 50th anniversary tour, which hits town the day after her birthday in October.

Of less interest to her was another contender for a place on The Year of Entertainment schedule – Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, also in Glasgow, three days before Jeff Lynne’s ELO at the the same venue. I’m waiting to hear if Carol The Substitute fancies another trip.

Matchgirl had expressed more interest in the forthcoming April appearance of The Who, yet again in Glasgow, but Russell Turner’s City Limits may be out that night, in Nairn or Dornoch (the booking’s still fluid). She’s got a difficult decision ahead of her.
