Music, Movies And Motoring

City Limits was back together at last this weekend for two gigs at one of our favourite venues – Johnny Foxes in Inverness. As usual, the crowd was enthusiastic and we had a great time despite a couple of minor hitches – like my guitar lead dying, which meant I had to mime through most of Bad Moon Rising before I could replace it, and Crazy Crazy Nights turning into a shambles at the key change, although we soldiered on and all finished together to applause. Some people wouldn’t notice if the four of us played four different tunes as long as the beat was consistent.

After two late nights I was ready to relax today, although first I had to make a brief foray to Cromarty to pick up tickets for the forthcoming film festival. Our choices, from an eclectic programme, are Touching the Void, Singin’ in the Rain, and The Producers (the original) plus curry supper. What’s not to like?

I’ve seen none of them on a big screen, or with an audience, so that should be three good evenings. Fortunately there’s a gap in the band schedule (which currently looks not as full as we’d hoped next year, so if you need an ace party band give us a call).

Back at The Rural Retreat, our afternoon entertainment was provided courtesy of Matchgirl’s recent purchase of Amazon Prime membership. She’s a regular Amazon shopper, thanks to her sporting and business activities, so the free postage will be a boon, but the big attraction was The Grand Tour. Superb.
