When The Curtain Falls...

by Russell Turner - 19:42 on 08 August 2016

Sunday was a slow day – it’s been a while since I’ve played three gigs in four days. Matchgirl and I could have gone out and made the most of some rare joint free time but, after an eighteen-mile training run ahead of the forthcoming Loch Ness Marathon, The Athletic One was suffering from a twingey knee. And it was blowing a gale outside, so I was happy to pass the time with a book. However, if there’d been another gig I’d have found the strength to take the stage.

Friday’s Foxes gig was a little quieter than usual, thanks to the Belladrum effect, but there were enough dancers for us to have our usual good time. Saturday found us entertaining another gaggle of raucous wedding guests, sliding small boys, and a bride who’d abandoned her shoes and spent time outside, with unfortunate consequences for the bottom of the dress she’d presumably agonised over for months.

The weekend saw another milestone passed by City Limits. We’d spent some time edging towards 300 Facebook likes, but we passed it on Friday night and by today had soared to 323. What stars.

Today was back to business at the Mac, where work on the next Chatterbox has begun after procrastination claimed last week. Fortunately there’s still plenty of time to put together another award-winning edition, assuming all the promised stories arrive. Deadlines mean nothing on the Black Isle.
