The Footsteps Of Time

by Russell Turner - 20:06 on 18 February 2016

One aspect of multi-cat ownership that Matchgirl didn't consider when she fell in love with The Pride was the amount of mud that twelve small paws can bring indoors.

Worktops, fridge and cooker are regularly marked by evidence of a passing puss, as is the shiny aluminium surface of the official Chatterbox MacBook which has been in my possession for some time now.

These can be wiped clean (when we bother). More bothersome are paw prints left on letters and envelopes printed out by Matchgirl in work mode or – worse – across documents of which she is temporary custodian. Nothing says unprofessional as much as returning someone's files with added cat input.

It's not a modern problem, as an historian discovered while looking through a 15th Century Croatian manuscript a few years back. Those medieval moggies got everywhere.
