More than twelve hours of travel began with the short hop from the S'Algar Hotel to Mahon Airport, courtesy of Philip's Taxis. Some of the gang had left a few hours earlier, some were staying on few more days, so the only passengers were Cathy and me, and after ninety minutes of queuing, hanging around and more queuing it was time to say goodbye when she joined the plane for Manchester. Shortly after that I was heading for Gatwick and Menorca was behind me, probably for the last time as this is the last year that PhotoActive Philip will run the event. Shame.

The flight was comfortable, the food fine, and I arrived early, which meant I'd even longer to hang around Gatwick Airport – six hours from landing to taking off for Inverness. Not much fun, but Matchgirl was in the arrivals lounge when we landed so it was worth the effort. Agent Cooper's had a reprieve, she reported – money's still tight.

Back at The Rural Retreat, three disinterested moggies acted as though I'd never been away. Cats don't care.

Today's a lazy day, to be followed by a hectic week of work on the next edition of Chatterbox, due out on June 1. This means that further picture processing won't happen for a while, so you'll have to wait for more Mediterranean snaps. You've probably seen the good ones already, anyway.

However, there is one snap I can share, taken after the last night dinner when I stunned the assembled scruffy snappers by turning up in dinner jacket and shades. The ladies were particularly impressed. My sartorial elegance clinched Philip's annual Light Monkey Award and led to much snappery. I may share more if I'm sent the pictures. Until then, here's me and my award, captured by Cathy.

Definitely an air of menace about you, Mr P! :-)
