In Praise Of Ralph

by admin - 23:15 on 01 June 2014

Ralph at the Balconie Inn knows how to look after his bands: payment in advance, plus a few drinks and lunch while we waited for the crowd to arrive at Evanton. What a gentleman.

It took a bit of an effort to leave our table and wander across to the stage but we made it eventually and kicked off a low-volume performance suitable for a small room on a Sunday afternoon with When You Were Young.

The room wasn't as busy as we'd hoped but the weather's to blame for that - lots of music-lovers enjoyed the gig whilst seated at tables outside where they could get the benefit of the sun.

Despite occasional technical problems from Matt's borrowed electronic drum-kit, and the usual complement of memory lapses and fret discrepancies, we had a good time, although Gregor finished the gig soaked in sweat - something I avoided thanks to my foresight in swapping jeans for my Menorca trousers and taking a towel. We guessed it was going to be a hot one.

The management is keen to have us back, and gig-hunting begins in earnest next week, so we might soon have a few more dates to promote. Watch this space.
