Happily Ever After
Life in The Rural Retreat with a beautiful wife, three cats, garden wildlife, a camera, a computer – and increasing amounts about running

Readers with long memories may wonder what happened to The Fumes, the band I joined after leaving Strawdogs. So do I.
The rest of its members enjoyed multiple musical activities, so when the gigs it had lined up were completed (one) or cancelled (two) there seemed little urgency from the rest of the band to find new ones. Or even rehearse. Which, effectively, left me bandless yet again.
That's why I've rejoined what was Strawdogs and is now The Strays. The line-up is familiar – Jim, Matt and Gregor, plus Richie in place of Michael. So is the set – there are a few new numbers but lots of old faithfuls.
We've had a couple of rehearsals, a couple of cancelled rehearsals (nothing changes), and there are a couple more scheduled before a gig at the Ord Arms in Muir of Ord on Friday, April 4. Be there. A rockin' time is guaranteed.
We also have a Facebook page which came into existence today. I've been put in charge, so take a look and I'll feel my efforts aren't in vain. There's not much there at the moment but what do you expect after less than a day?
Doubtless, after the Ord gig we'll be deluged with photos and videos of the event, plus more bookings and record deals. You never know. Although I suspect I do...
