The Date Is Set

by admin - 22:49 on 28 January 2011

Wednesday, March 2 is the date for your diary – that's when The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery has its official launch at the Eilean Dubh Restaurant in glamorous downtown Fortrose. Evening dress optional.

From 3-7pm (times to be confirmed) Andrew, Marten James and I will be available to sign autographs, modestly accept praise and hand over freshly printed copies of the magnum opus in return for a meagre £19.95. We'll even serve tea, coffee and shortbread at no charge, but thoughts of a wine and cheese soiree have been abandoned for fear we'd wipe out the profit on the entire first print run.

Prospects of a second printing look very good. Today, the top team that runs Fortrose Post Office asked to take thirty copies in expectation of heavy local demand. The Emporium Bookshop in Cromarty and the restaurant will also stock the book, so contact me to reserve yours and avoid disappointment – it would probably be the end of April before a new run could be completed.

Even better, take one away with you from the launch. You'll also have the excuse to sample the restaurant's fine choice of food and cakes. One couple, we're told, has already booked a table for the great event.

Don't miss the event of the year – you'll only regret it if you do.
