The Cat was a runner-up in the 2010 Limnisa short story competition.

Life and Death and Albert Smethwick was a runner-up in the 2009 Rider Haggard Society short story competition.

When Worlds Collide was written for a competition held in December 2008 by the Highland Rape and Abuse Line. Despite that it's a light-hearted tale – and it won the prize for the best local entry.

In April 2009 the story won second prize in a contest run by Writers Reign and was published on its website.

Suddenly I See was the result of a challenge from another writer who gave me a character and a situation and left me to invent the rest. It was published in the February 2008 edition of Random Acts of Writing.
