Simply Red

by admin - 18:29 on 14 January 2011

The red tinge that pervades some pages of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery wasn't resolved today, despite Brian tweaking his John Bull Printing Press several times. This was a nuisance.

So Andrew, a fifth dan black belt in the art of Photoshop, will spend the weekend in front of his Mac (all the best people have Macs), doing subtle things to any snaps that suffer from scarlet fever. He's determined to finish in time to return to Dingwall Printers on Monday and get the Bumper Book off the starting blocks. The finished product should be in our hands three to four weeks later.

One thing that was settled today is the venue for our proposed official launch. Several places had been considered, until we realised that one was staring us in the face – Eilean Dubh Restaurant in Fortrose. The owner was most enthusiastic and several discerning staff are keen to buy the book.

Anyone is welcome to attend, but invitations will be sent to anyone we think will be interested, including everyone who's emailed me to reserve a book. What better occasion to pick up your signed copy? If you want to be among first in the queue, click here and send me your details (and how many copies you'd like to buy).

A Few Updates: Master Marten continues to spurn roast chicken. Dolphin James advises the use of raw chicken, if putrefied roadkill isn't available. I'll give it a go, but the diner might have to settle for battery farm poultry rather than the organic free range variety that Matchgirl would insist on if she were a carnivore.

The re-formed (and possibly reformed) Shaker meets again tonight to try a few tunes new to us (Biffy Clyro, The Editors and Radiohead) and brush up on the existing set. It's still early days so no gigs are in the offing. Who knows – we might be back on the road this summer.

Cromarty Camera Club held its landscape competition last night. The results are revealed next week but I'm not holding my breath – my photographic output of late has declined in both quality and quantity. But tomorrow Matchgirl and I attend an RPS event in Bridge of Allan, weather and A9 traffic permitting, which I hope will stir the creative juices. Fingers crossed.
