A Fight to the Finish

by admin - 21:46 on 18 April 2010

Fortrose was today's destination in the quest to gather more stunning Black Isle images, but I was defeated by flat light. That's my excuse, anyway.

However, while wandering through the grounds of Fortrose Cathedral I came across two cock pheasants desperate to show the other who was boss.

Being set up for landscape photography I had the wrong lens on the Pentax, and no opportunity to change it, so I made do with the 18-55mm zoom at maximum stretch and snapped from as close as I could manage without breaking up the fight.

One half-way decent picture emerged from the blurred jumble. It won't win any awards but it captured the action well.

Battling Pheasants

Moggy Update: Bess has been in the wars again, we discovered today. The puss, who's been down in the dumps for the past couple of days, has broken one of her few remaining teeth – a canine. How she did it is unknown.

So tomorrow Matchgirl and the patient return to Dr Death's premises to find out if the molar can be saved. The unfortunate feline must be jinxed.
