Where's The Vitamin C?

by admin - 16:17 on 08 October 2013

Matchgirl returned from London yesterday. That's the good news. The bad news is that she's full of the cold she feared she was starting before she left. Shopping activities were much curtailed, so at least her malady's saved her some money.

This could be bad news for me (the malady, not the lack of shopping) because this time next week I'll be just a couple of hours away from delivering the first talk on my Borders Tour, in Berwick-on-Tweed. Snivelling and coughing will not be welcome. Fingers crossed.

Her return has coincided with a decrease in activity by murderous moggies. The last to strike was Maia (always a surprise) who delayed my drive to the airport by bringing home a small rodent. Since then, garden wildlife has been unmolested and I'm currently surrounded by three cats heavily engaged in a sleeping competition. The Pride behaves itself when Matchgirl's home – the sooks.

Southern Hawker 1

Regarding wildlife, I've been informed that my dragonfly was a Southern Hawker, not a Common. No yellow leading edge on the wings is the giveaway, and the two sets of dots on the last two sections of its tail are joined up. Obvious, once you know.
