Bygone Days And Big Ambitions

by admin - 18:02 on 27 March 2013

This week's found me never far from the Mac, hard at work on what is likely to be the next offering by Bassman Books (unless The Mystery Author makes a sudden spurt and completes The Mystery Project).

Rosemarkie People and Places is a collection of memories and photos from the 1850s to 1950s compiled by villager Freda Bassindale, and which should sell like hot cakes if everyone who's pestered her to know when it will be published buys the number of copies they've promised.

Layout is complete (more or less), as is the text apart from a few late checkings of facts. The only possible hold-up is the quality of some of the pictures, which may have to be re-scanned. If all goes well, the newest addition to the Bassman Books canon might hit the shops next month, in glorious black and white.

This has left little time for snappery – long-tailed tits could be dancing in the garden with dodos and I wouldn't know. However, I did grab one shot this morning when I passed the living room window and spotted a small kitten dreaming big dreams.

Optimism

The pheasant ambled away without being bothered. I think Willow realised that this would have been a case of really biting off more than she can chew.

I could just imagine the picture of Willow hanging on to the pheasant's back as it did a lap of the garden, Pandora watching from the window, thinking she just had to go one better!
