Pandora Proves A Point

by admin - 21:11 on 13 March 2013

The absence of two kittens at a time when Maia was pounding on my chest, demanding I leave bed to prepare breakfast, was a big clue that something was up.

Downstairs, The Fearless Ones were taking far too much interest in the space beneath the sofa so it was no surprise when a quick shake uncovered a vole, doubtless brought inside by Pandora. The beast made a dash for freedom in the direction of Maia, who hissed and reared back, startled, but made no attempt at capture. Pandora would have beaten her anyway – the tabby terror seized her plaything and was out of the cat-flap before I could stop her.

Outside, rescue was almost made a couple of times but Pandora was too quick. All I could do was hope she'd grow bored and let her victim go free. A glance through the kitchen window showed that that wasn't going to happen – sweet, innocent-looking Pandora was flinging around the luckless rodent, watched by a capering Willow who hung around the fringes of the action like the weedy kid who wants to join the gang.

Pandora definitely had something to prove after yesterday's face-off with Maia. That was a very unlucky vole.

Snappery Update: The Emporium in Cromarty today became the latest outlet to stock a selection of my greetings cards. This is just as well because some of last year's have yet to ask for new deliveries. Fingers crossed. Further news: calendar pdfs have been emailed to the printer. With luck they'll be in the shops soon.
