And Then There Were Four

by admin - 19:56 on 30 November 2012

Readers who've stuck with this blog for a long time, and remember the days when it was about music and bands rather than snappery and cats, may have detected a slight lessening of enthusiasm for rock and roll.

The reason is simple: ever since our prima donna singer was allowed back into the band I've been waiting for him to flounce out again at the most inconvenient moment. Next weekend we have two gigs in the diary; yesterday he quit. No-one understands why, but vodka and pain-killing pills might have something to do with it.

However, now that the other shoe has dropped, the remaining members of Strawdogs look ahead with more optimism and enthusiasm than we've managed for quite some time. We've had to cancel next Friday's date at the Drumnadrochit Hotel, but Saturday's appearance at Beauly Legion will go ahead with guitar hero Michael doing his best on vocals.

By then we may even have a new singer-in-training. Greg, a friend of guitar hero Jim, has never sung with a band but is desperate to do so. We'll try him out at Monday's rehearsal; if he cuts the mustard he'll make a guest appearance at Beauly, where we're guaranteed a friendly rentacrowd. If he doesn't, and you've got the voice for a band specialising in The Killers, Kings of Leon and Foo Fighters, give me a call.

And if you've no interest whatsoever in bands, fear not – cats and snappery are certain to return in the blog's next exciting episode.
