Disaster

by admin - 21:43 on 13 May 2012

A second blog post in one day can only mean something very good or very bad. It's bad.

The Nutella Tree is no more.

When I went out earlier tonight to leave marten treats I could see that the tree was swaying alarmingly in the high winds that continue to sweep the Highlands. Thirty minutes later it was down, only narrowly failing to crush our lilac shrub. Disaster.

The martens and woodpeckers have lost one of their favourite dining areas and I've lost one of the most photogenic parts of the garden. The clear-up will take place tomorrow.

A strange postscript is that the birds most alarmed by the crash were a gang of long-tailed tits, which I've never before seen so close to the centre of the garden. Maybe it's all their fault.

Oh no!! You'll just have to get out and about with the Pentax now.

An artificial replacement? ;-)
