Hurrah for the Holidays
by admin - 23:44 on 20 October 2011
Work is over at virus-infested GNoME HQ, where other people's hacking and coughing has been worryingly and noisily prevalent for days, until a week on Tuesday; on Saturday Matchgirl and I will head south for our foreign holiday (the only one we can afford for a while) in darkest England.
This is handy, for more labourer-related activity has taken place. Scaffolding appeared today and there's a rumour that rendering may soon commence, so our cat-sitters will have to cope with the initial upheaval.
Matchgirl is disappointed that she won't be able to hang out with real men – blokes who know how to wield heavy duty implements, use spirit levels and wear proper work boots – but as it's unlikely that everything will be done in a week she's sure to get the opportunity when we return.
Band Update: Strawdogs (as it seems we're now known) sounded almost like a band at tonight's rehearsal. Matt was so enthusiastic he broke his drum seat and had to finish the evening on a plastic chair.
We even have the offer of a real gig on November 11 at The Winking Owl in Aviemore, where we'd be the first band to play for the new (and inexperienced) owners. They've got much to learn – like not expecting the band to take a pay cut if not enough punters turn up. Negotiations continue.
