An Anniversary Treat

by admin - 11:52 on 17 September 2011

The Rural Retreat is filled with excitement today. We're easily pleased.

Yesterday an order was emailed to Tigger at Big Sky Print for 1,000 more copies of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery – our fourth print run! We don't need them immediately (we've almost 400 of the previous batch unsold) but we don't want to risk running out when pre-Christmas buying is at its height, and we'll be swamped with worldwide orders when we appear in The Scots Magazine in a couple of weeks. We hope. The profit that's gone into our pockets remains pathetically small.

Of more immediate interest for Matchgirl and me is our belated third anniversary treat – two nights at Boath House, our favourite luxury country house hotel, which we've not visited for almost two years.

Uncle James will keep Bess's dishes filled in our absence as well as making sure that martens, hedgehogs and birds don't go hungry while we enjoy the Michelin-starred cuisine at Boath. We're home on Monday. Try not to miss us.

Hope you're having a wonderful anniversary treat. Wow... 3 years... that went fast!
