A Weekend Jaunt

So tomorrow's the big day – excitement, spectacle, a chance to catch up with friends and a break in the routine. No, not that wedding; it's the first bike club event of the year, based at the Ben View Hotel in Strontian on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

And, incredibly, the forecast shows that while showers fall on Westminster Abbey the sun will shine on Scotland's west coast. Even better, the good weather will last all weekend – something not to be taken for granted anywhere near Fort William.

All we need now is the bike to start and Matchgirl be able get her poorly shoulder inside her leather jacket.

Whether the wilds of Lochaber have internet access is uncertain, so it might be Monday before I can report on the weekend's activities. Until then you'll have to make do with reading about the Royals. God bless 'em.
