A Well Travelled Tome

by admin - 23:08 on 20 February 2011

No firm decisions were reached at this morning's summit meeting of the triumvirate behind The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery, partly because we all have slightly different attitudes to risk but mainly because we don't have enough information to help us move forward.

We should have more facts tomorrow when Andrew and I visit Norman to ask a few pertinent questions. Marten James, to his frustration, is stuck at work.

Norman, I'm pleased to report, has already taken steps to remedy The Great Binding Disaster by sending three copies of the faulty tome to a specialist perfect binder to ascertain whether they could be rescued.

The expert, by one of life's strange coincidences, is situated four hundred miles away in Wakefield, city of my birth. This means, if the rescue gets the green light and proves successful, that copies will descend to Yorkshire, return to the Highlands, then be sent back to Wakefield for the delectation of the members of my family deemed worthy of their receipt.

With all this stress and drama it's unfortunate that Matchgirl won't be around to mop my fevered brow, for today she returned to Shetland for a few days on business. Life can be cruel.

But I still have Bess and my feathered friends around me, including the bramblings. I managed one more decent snap today, and now that I've cleaned the living room window I might get an even better one tomorrow.
