Polecats and Sunsets

by admin - 20:07 on 14 February 2011

It's been another dank, damp day around The Rural Retreat, with worse to come at the end of the week if the forecasters are correct. So I've again not strayed far from home.

I did offer Bess the opportunity for a wander up the lane at the side of the cottage this morning, but the presence of roving Romeo made the cautious kitty reluctant to leave sight of her front door, even after my approach caused him to run.

Polecat

He fled via a fence post, which enabled him to show his agility and balance for such a lump of a cat, and his stupidity for staying perched there long enough for me take a one-handed snap. The other was involved with a mug of tea.

My only other outdoor sortie enabled me to capture the sunset from up the lane. It's hardly spectacular but I liked the colours.

Book Update: The latest progress report from Norman and Co is that The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery should be with us by the end of the week. A few advance purchasers could take delivery next week, assuming the freshly printed tome passes Andrew's quality control and isn't rejected because of poor colour reproduction. That's also assuming we've managed to scrape together the cash to pay Norman. Credit? What's that?

We can also reveal the latest retail outlets that will carry our great work – Cromarty Post Office, Jemimaville Post Office and Duncanston Post Office. Postman Pat is our biggest fan
