A Break From Two Wheels

by admin - 23:07 on 04 May 2010

More biking had been proposed for today, but after four days in the saddle Richard and I chose to have a break and travelled to the Black Isle Brewery in Mr Ford.

Richard, who's a fan of the firm's fine organic ales, had visited the premises several times in the past; for me it was a first visit to the bijou outfit on the outskirts of Munlochy which consists of one medium-sized building to house tuns and boilers, a small room where three people bottle, label and pack by hand, and a sales and reception office.

The whole enterprise looks very hand-made, but business is booming. A move to larger premises is planned for October, with a Black Isle Oktoberfest to mark the occasion. Richard was most interested.

Further tourist activity took place in the afternoon when we were joined by Matchgirl for a jaunt to Urquhart Castle aboard Agent Cooper. We know how to look after a guest.

No pine martens graced us with their presence this evening – not during daylight, at any rate – but the goldfinches were bolder earlier in the day, although the overcast gloom meant the only portraits I managed to snap have much room for improvement.
