On The Road To London – Again

by Russell Turner - 18:55 on 09 June 2022

It begins again. Today found me running for the first time since the Edinburgh Marathon, a whole 11 days ago: Run 1 of Week 1 of the London Marathon training programme (begun on a Thursday so my long run day is Tuesday to give me recovery time after weekend gigs). Sixteen-and-a-half weeks to go.

To mark the occasion I tried out Runderwear boxers and socks. Both felt good, and my steady 30mins was completed without trouble, if a little faster than necessary. Tomorrow’s run pace is easy, so I’ll attempt to slow down while I cover the required 45mins.

That might not be a problem. A couple of hours after the run my left ankle was exhibiting a worryingly familiar twinge. With luck it’s just the shock of being back in action and all will be well in the morning.
