A Birthday Bash In Balintore

by Russell Turner - 11:05 on 12 November 2017

City Limits Lite was the attraction at the Balintore Inn last night – lite because Jenna was delayed in her return from a break in England. Shame she missed it because it was a great night.

We were lucky enough to coincide with a 50th birthday celebration so there were lots of people eager to party. The eagerness threatened to get out of control as the night went on and the partygoers danced close enough to bump into the band. Drinks were spilled, drunks toppled and speakers wobbled. Maybe it’s just as well that Jenna’s keyboard wasn’t there.

It was our first time at the pub but all being well it won’t be the last. If the same crowd turns up, and we’re able to play all the girlie numbers that don’t suit Keith on his own, there could be a riot.

Earlier in the day I’d completed the second day of Week 5 of the couch to 5k: two sets of ten minutes with a two minute walk break. All went well despite showers and occasional cold wind; the bad weather was not to be eluded after all. Two twelves on Monday should be no problem.

Following more advice from Cathy the Runner, which backed up similar from Matchgirl, I attempted yet again to run more steadily. Whether I succeeded is a mystery because my heart rate monitor didn’t connect properly for the first few minutes. I need to dampen the electrodes, Matchgirl advised. Sounds like she’s out to get rid of me.
