Now Starring On YouTube

by Russell Turner - 14:23 on 28 November 2016

City Limits’ hectic November came to an end at Jacko’s on Saturday with another good gig, made particularly memorable by the first performance (and first time we’d played it together) of Crazy Train. Keith is an axe god.

His stalker, who’s now turned up at several gigs, certainly thought so, despite him now being a married man. Much banter ensued.

Our erratic diary means it’s almost a month until we’re in action again, back in Portree on the 23rd then in Nairn on Christmas Eve. Shame. We’ve no Hogmanay gig but return to Foxes on New Year’s Day.

Drummer Sam along took his GoPro camera when we played there last week. One song is now on YouTube and there may be more to follow. Don’t expect to hear the bass unless you plug in decent speakers.

Cats continue to provide drama. The lead role this time was taken by Willow who’d been feeling sorry for herself for a few days, then gone off her food – an indication of serious unhappiness with life.

Dr German Vet (after Matchgirl had gone to great lengths to procure a urine sample) diagnosed a urinary tract infection, currently being treated with pills and special food. The patient is already responding and should be back to full fitness by the end of the week. Leaping on to the television (when she’s not gazing, transfixed, at Planet Earth II) and a roaring appetite suggest she’s well on the mend.

Further proof that cats rule The Rural Retreat came in the shape of two mugs I ordered on a whim from Vistaprint, featuring Matchgirl’s snap of stepmum and kittens on one side and mine of two perky kittens on the other.

Publishing Update: Rosehaugh looks as good as I hoped (despite a couple of minor errors – there’s always something) and goes on sale officially on December 8 at its launch night. If you’re impatient you can always bag an early copy here.
