Pets And Kids And Rock And Roll

by Russell Turner - 20:36 on 10 May 2016

Early in my musical career it was the older band members who could be reluctant to do gigs that involved long distances or very late nights. Children were usually the reason, although pets were sometimes cited. Wives were a distant third.

Now I'm the old guy in the band, and it's younger members who can't tear themselves away from their offspring.

City Limits could have had two nights on Islay, ferry and accommodation included, playing at the whisky festival. What's better than that? But Jenna and Sam both have young kids and Islay's a long, long way from Inverness. Such is life.

Maybe we'll be asked again next year when the novelty of parenthood has worn thin. Fingers crossed.
