Spring At Last

by Russell Turner - 20:31 on 14 March 2016

CrocusSpring has arrived at The Rural Retreat with weather so pleasant I almost got to work in the garden. Almost.

Our primroses are in full colour, the daffodils will burst out any day now, and nearby crocuses are a gaudy sight.

Moggies were happy to go for a stroll, but Maia seems to be an increasingly stay-at-home cat and refused to go too far from the Retreat. Maybe she was pining for Matchgirl who'd abandoned her in favour of a boozy, girlie lunch in Inverness.

The Fearless Ones were more active, which has its own down side. Late in the afternoon The Grey Streak brought home (dead) her first avian victim of the year – a wren. I pointed out the error of her ways but she's unlikely to take any notice.
