Another Missed Opportunity

The Curse of The Room continues to hang over City Limits. The Inverness venue has been strangely unwilling to give us a gig, despite proving our popularity so often at Johnny Foxes, so the offer of a last-minute date this weekend came out of the blue.

Singer Ashley was supposed to be absent on Saturday, but plans change and her sudden availability coincided with a cancellation. Unfortunately, it also coincided with guitarist Keith's desire for a weekend getaway.

Chances are that Saturday will be a bad gig everywhere with most music-lovers at the Belladrum festival, so we're not too disappointed. We'll get in The Room one day.

Nothing's a problem at the moment because The Great British Bake Off is back on TV tonight, which means that all is right with the world. To mark the event, this afternoon I made a batch of flapjack to help us with our viewing. Matchgirl, unbelievably, found her sample piece to be too sweet. All the more for me.

Someone else enjoying her food is Maia the Great Black Hunter. The past has seen her raid a neighbouring kitchen for broccoli, cheese, pheasant and more cheese. Her latest coup is green olives (without stones) which on at least two occasions she's brought home from the currently unoccupied house with a yowl of triumph then gobbled up.

The occupants return soon from India, after which (unless they get around to repairing the broken cat-flap) our sophisticated cat burglar could return with even more exotic foodstuffs. I can't wait to see.
