Making Plans For Martens

by admin - 20:56 on 23 January 2015

Some time has passed since martens have featured in these pages. However, they've not been forgotten.

Since it became obvious that Mystery Moggy was stealing their nuts and raisins I've cut back on peanut butter and upped the amount of Nutella on offer. It may not be the healthy option but at least foraging felines leave it alone.

The Bushnell isn't deployed every night (eight AA Energiser Lithiums don't last long and cost a fortune) but I'm pleased to report that the last two photoshoots have featured martens (in the dead of night) and no moggies. Although it may be that the nut thief is tucked up in a warm basket at night instead of braving wind, snow and sub-zero temperatures, I like to think that the lack of its favourite food has sent it searching elsewhere.

Of course, Sod's Law dictates that tonight's snaps will show nothing but cats. With luck that won't come to pass and I'll have some more monochrome martens to show off instead. Time will tell.

Band Update: As previously reported, City Limits has no more pub gigs lined up until the end of March. Fortunately, we're not completely out of action – a private function next weekend has fallen into our lap and another at the beginning of March, and we're still optimistic about filling any pub cancellations too.

In the meantime, if you're pining for good music here's what could be the next addition to our set.
