A Welcome Guest

This morning we bade farewell to Richard the Visitor, who's been in residence since Monday evening. As usual, I made use of his mechanical and other skills, as a result of which Kawasaki San now has a securely fixed and operational speedo cable and an extra-tall screen, so high that I can ride around with no need to lower my helmet visor. Luxury.

So after two days on the Black Isle it seemed only fair that yesterday I gave him his first taste of the wilderness of The Far North, especially as the weather forecast was mostly good. Matchgirl, who had an unbreakable appointment with her hairdresser, declined to join us. Some people's priorities are astounding.

Our route took us through Evanton, Lairg and Altnaharra to Bettyhill on the north coast where a much-needed cafe break was taken in The Cafe at Bettyhill (local entrepreneurs clearly believe in unadorned promotion) followed by a look around the adjacent museum and a wander on to the beach. It really was as quiet as it looks.

Unlike Matchgirl, Richard has no qualms about the Pentax being pointed in his direction so I made good use of the opportunity...

...Whether I'll get the opportunity again when his Man At C&A pose goes viral is another matter.

This has led me to start thinking about doing a long weekend to Cape Wrath sometime in August. Should have thought about it earlier.
