Born To Be Floral

Three confused cats were this morning deposited in their holiday home in Kirkhill (not Kiltarlity as previously reported) and waved goodbye to by a moist-eyed Matchgirl who spent much of the trip home grumbling about their accommodation. Nothing's good enough for her special girls.

On the way back we stopped at the ZZ Top bike shop so I could buy a new helmet, my existing one being so old and battered it failed on grounds of both style and safety. Many were tried but few fitted – it seems that my head has shrunk from a large to a small. Matchgirl claims it's nothing to do with her treatment of me, but she would.

I left with a black, white and grey headpiece covered in a chic roses design and featuring a built-in sun visor. Matchgirl's initial horror that I'd chosen something so girly was soon replaced by envy; a similar helmet – but in pink – has been ordered because the extra small size she needed wasn't in stock.

Since then Kawasaki San has been washed (after a fashion) and his greying plastic trim restored to its original shine with a spray of Back To Black, which in my experience lasts a week. He'll look good for the weekend, though. The sun shines, my pannier is packed and Matchgirl's is almost done. (Decisions, decisions.)

Dornie here we come.
