One Step Forward...

by admin - 11:14 on 15 April 2014

The Weather Gods have not yet noticed that I'm back on two wheels, or maybe they're taking their time before they unleash the deluge because they knew what would happen yesterday. The news was bad.

A pleasant spring day meant the omens were good when I took Kawasaki San in for his MOT. After all Richard'd hard work I was confident of a pass. Unfortunately, no-one told that to Mr Tester, who failed my steed because of a warped front brake disc. That necessitated a short ride to the nearby motorcycle repair shop, run by two ZZ Top lookalikes, to book the bike in for the work to be done on Friday.

I returned to The Rural Retreat in a gloom deepened by the discovery that I'd lost the only key to my topbox, which contains all my waterproofs. Following panicky phone calls to Mr Tester and ZZ Top, the key remained missing.

So it was a relief to find it a few hours later in an unexpected coat pocket. The lesson learned is to keep a note of all key serial numbers. I'll order a duplicate today. With luck, by the time it arrives Kawasaki San will be MOT's, taxed and all set up for a bike club bank holiday weekend in Dornie at the start of May. Cue the deluge
