In A Holiday Mood

It's been a contented day in The Rural Retreat – Matchgirl has locked up her office for the last time until the new year and celebrated this morning by running eight miles. It takes all sorts. Even the early power cut didn't upset her, although she might be less stoic if it happens at six-thirty tomorrow when we settle down to view the Strictly final.

My last day of work is tomorrow, when fine snappery, cards and books will be available at Culbokie Market. If you're still looking for the perfect Christmas gift I'll be there from ten until noon. You won't find me anywhere in January, though, as I'm taking a break from the hectic retail world.

Contentment spread as far as cats who enjoyed an afternoon ramble before escaping from a worryingly wintry wind to trot home and demand food. Before that, I captured one outdoor portrait of The Grey Streak, then her first indoor close-up using the 50mm lens.
