A Matter Of Conscience

by admin - 21:13 on 19 December 2013

Having a conscience can be a nuisance, especially when it costs money.

Today I received an inquiry from a magazine about the possibility of using a snap or two of mine to illustrate an article on the Black Isle. Brilliant, you'd think. The title of the magazine? Sporting Shooter.

Oh dear.

Wildlife occasionally endures a risky existence in The Rural Retreat's garden, but the depredations of The Pride are nothing against what can be achieved by an armed gang, so regretfully I told the magazine thanks but no thanks.

Fortunately, my resolve wasn't tested by being tempted with huge amounts of money. My contact didn't say how much was on offer but did admit that it wasn't much. Maybe the next magazine to get in touch will be Cat Fanciers' Monthly.

I respect your decision Russell, we had the same situation arise with our business and also declined.
