Identified For Certain

I've changed my mind again about whether our newest pine marten visitor is one of our oldest. I'm now inclined to believe that he really is Master Marten and not a younger relative.

The most recent snaps were taken on Thursday night. Food has been taken since then but not while I've been awake – the sight of Romeo lurking at the bottom of the garden tonight may have something to do with it.

Thursday's were taken late, and in consequence are noisy, but they're clear enough for a comparison with one taken last year: the dots on the bib and the stripe on the cheek are conclusive proof that Master Marten is still around.

Thursday this week (above) and July last year in better light – clearly the same marten

Yesterday's highlight was a run to Findhorn where a jovial Tigger was given a cheque and the go-ahead to produce the next one thousand copies of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery. We'll be millionaires this time next year.

Today was more muted, thanks to a cat seeking entertainment and companionship at 4am. Bess was still perky enough to take a walk up the lane at 9.30am, when her latest portrait was snapped. How could I say no?
