Countdown To Summer

by admin - 23:25 on 23 May 2011

The prospects for our motorcycling holiday look bleak. Gales and rain currently batter The Rural Retreat and the forecast shows no let-up until Friday, the day we head towards the Dales, when the rain moves to Yorkshire.

We've got to get there first, however. Another Icelandic ash cloud has grounded flights in the north of Scotland so Matchgirl is on tenterhooks with regard to her departure from Shetland on Wednesday. The ferry's not running either because of the storms.

Summer can't be far away.

Bess is not impressed. After enduring a weekend filled with people, when she couldn't find peace in her own home, she's now stuck in the cottage because she's unwilling to face the elements until outside business becomes unavoidable. Life's tough for cats.

It's probably not much better for pine martens, but as they continue to practise ninja stealth I've no eye-witness evidence either way. They'll probably put on acrobatic displays next week when Soo and Tony perform their cat-sitting duties.

Life's tough for would-be wildlife snappers too.

Oh dear, what can I say to make you feel better?
Have you another name yet or are we still to call the baby (Lumpy)?

Still Lumpy until we can think of something Matchgirl likes better.

I still think Gromit is a good name.

And I still like Knobby! :-))
